HAPPENINGS
LODGE NEWS:
Fall was in the morning air this week. A crispness in smell and feel that is only present in the Fall. A perfect time to be outside. The horses are loving this weather to run and be naughty. We had to work on the front door-the 1928 vintage hardware was showing its age. Leroy took the piece into the workshop to fix it (which he did!), but we had to leave the door open. Of course, Miss Pixie started to claim the great room as her new barn. Z and her nosy Pixie self were escorted to their real barn but not before they were peeking in the great room door and making themselves at home.
Every day for the past month, when I'm driving to and fro to the Lodge, I have seen a Williamson's sapsucker. One day I saw four of them drinking from a puddle. Over the past five years, they have expanded their home turf from the Lodge and down Cottage San Road for a couple of miles. They are a beautiful birds and always makes me happy to see them. Its become an obsession to make sure I see one a daily basis. They are so plentiful, it has not been an issue. The Lodge has GRASS and wildflowers everywhere. The holidays are sneaking up on us! The Lodge's rooms are almost full for Thanksgiving, but Christmas is fairly open for rooms. Come and celebrate the season. We are officially reopening the Downtown Ursa Minor room October 1, 2022. We should have pictures of its redecorating next newsletter. Mary is upholstering the couch in baby blue velvet, new drapes are going up, and new great linens from Red Land Cotton. Its going to be a beautiful jewel box of a room.

But we are starting to plan! The Thanksgiving menu is online. We are taking dinner reservations! We have designed a couple of new desserts -they are going to fun and yummy.
