BEAR MOUNTAIN LODGE -

July 2023

News for July...

LODGE NEWS:
We are happy to report Katelyn had a little boy, they named him Thomas.
In Katelyn style her two mama pigs had a total of 15 piglets at the same time. The Hill homestead is one busy nursery.
John Allen, who's ancestor bought the Lodge in the 1930's discovered a 1930's movie of the Lodge and it's workings. When you are here next time ask us and we will share it with you. Its very amazing. The Gila River looked great. They had some very nice horses. The front portal was absolutely fabulous. And yes, there was a swimming pool on the side of the mountain.

The Gila Wilderness has its Centennial next year. It will be 100 years old.
Let us know if you have any suggestions on how we should celebrate.
We definitely want to honor it's birthday.

CAFE NEWS:
We sent in 111 recipes to the book designer this past week.
The cookbook is happening.
They are hoping for delivery around Thanksgiving.
Lots of hours of cooking and staging food.
Miriam, the book designer and Jay , the photographer are hard at work in the above photograph. Lots of photo shoots were done.
Lots of testing! Thank you for everyone who helped out . It was a lot of work, but we learned so much. The process has made us experiment even more and refine different techniques. We even made your own hot sauce.
Thank you to Mimbres Press for giving us this amazing opportunity to learn,
create,and explore.

We are in the process of building an "art" fence in the front circle. We plan on landscaping the center and not have cow pruners helping us. In other words, we are fencing them out, sorry Cedric and Ferdie Boy.
The fence is pretty cool.

WORD OF THE MONTH:
Dayspring: the word means dawn.
I picked it today because of the light rain fall. It is the dawn of monsoon season.

Have a wonderful Summer!
